Moir

This century-old cottage needed reimagining to suit modern living and a young growing family. The double-gabled cottage informed the roofline of the extension out of the back, with the living areas spanning along the southern boundary, bringing northern light into the angled spaces. Concrete, brick, and profiled metal are softened by the contrast of roasted ash inside, and clever placement of toplights and skylights provides day-long light. Connecting the old with the new is a seamless concrete stair.
